Pushing Through (It All)

December already? We say that every month and every year and yet we’re still always surprised, right? It really is incredible how quickly time flies but we push through.

And so, that’s the working title of my latest assemblage. I’m loving all of its details because the early premise — using the iconic Barbie figurine because of her current resurgence in popularity — was really without much foresight yet has evolved into an “image” of wear and tear, age, erosion and masking of origins. She still maintains her “high heel” pose but is encumbered with various stuff that tries (but doesn’t succeed) to block her progress.

I’m having fun with the forced aging of materials to create a Mad Max style canvas.

Some detail images of the work in progress posted here. Let me know what you think (?) !

Push on and talk to me!
